Custom border designs

Get ready for a whole new look! A breezeway is transformed after we finished with this design in a Kinsman, Ohio home. What had previously been cold gray concrete was now a pleasant environment; a great place to enjoy a tasty glass of iced tea on a hot summer day!

We borrowed elements from the room decor to create a country motif.  The dimensions are approximately 6' x 8'. The main area is Daltile French Quarter, in Orleans Moss (no longer available). The pieces were all hand cut, and hand sanded so there are no sharp edges.

Often designs like this one will evolve during the installation, when we know final dimensions or find we need the addition of other elements or color. The corner block was the last design element to be decided, after all other pieces were in place. Even when we have an idea in mind for the corners, they often turn out to be something quite differnt.

Sometimes our client will express ideas that we then incorporate too. We're always open to suggestions, as long as we can keep within the constraints of the original estimate.

Rolling fields, pond, a sunset sky and flying geese.

The corner detail is shown here which includes these elements. A little imagination gose a long way. But the rolling farm fields in the area and the many ponds found on the farms, have always been an inspiration. Country life is beautiful.

Southwest design for a dining room floor.

Arizona in Jefferson, OH? You might think so when you see this floor. Our client, fond of the Southwest, wanted the look of an Indian rug. So we did a little research, presented our idea, and with our clients approval, we went to work on this design with over 1,000 pieces!

As mentioned above, client input often plays a part in the final design, and here we were asked if we could bring in some turquiose. We had one piece of tile that we had obtaied as a sample which was turquoise, so we cut it for this project, as can be seen in the arrows and in the inner border detail.

Of course designs like these take time. A lot of planning and layout work is involved.
