Ceramic tile for the bathroom

Even a small bathroom can benefit from the use of tile

Should you put large tile in a small bath?

Tub surround

We're sometimes ask if a large tile can be used in a small bathroom. Absolutely! A small bathroom can benefit from larger tile (hardly anyone is putting anything less than 12 inch tile on a floor anymore), making it appear larger, much more attractive, and creating much more interest. The small bathroom at right is a good example.

The floor had previously been covered with a vinyl flooring and there had been a fiberglass one piece tub and shower. These were removed a new tub installed and we installed a ceramic tile shower surround. The diagonal decorative inserts on the side wall of the shower added some interest, breaking up the large space. This tile, selected and provided by the homeowner, was an excellent match for the floor tile, which was Marazzi, "Pietra Del Sol" (color, Radica), a 13" tile.

Converted space in an older home becomes a new bathroom.

Refurbishing an older home involved some major changes, including converting a small room into a new bath. A tile wainscot with a decorative border was wanted for the walls. We created this border design from a variety of tiles in different colors that the homeowner picked out from our stock. Colors were chosen to go with her decor and the chosen field tile, which was Daltile Scabos, Warm Gray.

The neutral color scheme of the tile will look good with almost any colors, should she desire to do something different in the future.
